China to Construct TD-SCDMA Test Network

According to a report by the Xinhua news agency, the TD-SCDMA Industry Alliance will establish a test TD-SCDMA network by the end of 2005 in order to conduct trial 3G operations. The test network will be located in Shanghai, where a number of base stations have already been placed, and construction will be done by ZTE, which was quoted by the news agency as saying they would add another five or six base station for the test network. Also, Xinhua quoted the secretary-general of the TD-SCDMA Industry Alliance as saying that the test network can easily be converted into a commercial network.

 

The TD-SCDMA Industry Alliance consists of six system developers, 14 terminal manufacturers and four chipset makers.
